"To have suspended production F-22 Raptor to just 187 planes was one of the dumbest decisions of military procurement in decades, that now no one denys anymore." That said during the "Smart Women, Smart Power," the Air Force Secretary James Deborah.

"The original plan was to produce a lot 'of F-22. Unfortunately, a series of unfortunate circumstances and budget overruns have anticipated the conclusion of the program. We just pulled the plug and shut the production line. Now we focus everything on the F-35, although it will never be what ensures the Raptor ".

The James also confirmed that the entire line of production has not been cannibalized, but kept in storage as well as all projects. This means that the next US president might even think of reopening the line Raptor (the military push in this direction).

The Obama administration has never feared this possibility, allowing only the necessary updates (not without difficulty) for the only fifth generation fighter currently in service in the world.
